Can the Cigarette Ban in Britain Drive Bingo Enthusiasts Online?

A lot has been reported in the press not long ago about the bingo industry struggling as a result of the cigarette ban in England. Conditions have become so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded huge aid to assist in keeping the industry afloat. But does the net version of this quintessential game present a escape, or might it not compare to its land based peer?
Bingo is an enduring game usually played by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game lately had undergone a recent increase in acceptance with younger people opting to hit the bingo halls in place of the discos on a weekend. All this is about to change with the enacting of the smoking ban all over UK.
No longer will enthusiasts be allowed to puff on cigarettes while marking off their numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 every public location will no longer be permitted to allow cigarettes in their locations and this includes Bingo halls, one of the most common places where players enjoy smoking.
The results of the anti cigarette law can already be observed in Scotland where smoking is already prohibited in the bingo halls. Profits have plunged and the industry is literally fighting for its life. But where have the players gone? Of course they have not deserted this familiar game?
The answer is on the internet. People know that they can gamble on bingo using their computer while enjoying a drink and fag and still have a chance at massive cash rewards. This is a recent anomaly and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.
Of course wagering on on the internet is unlikely to replace the collective aspect of heading over to the bingo parlour, but for a demographic of people the rules have left a number of bingo enthusiasts with little option.
