Might the Anti Smoking Law in England Take Bingo Players On to the Internet?

An abundance has been talked in the press not long ago regarding the bingo industry struggling as a consequence of the smoking ban in the United Kingdom. Things have grown so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for massive tax breaks to help keep the industry from going bankrupt. However does the web version of this quintessential game provide a salvation, or might it never compare to its land based relative?
Bingo is an age old game usually played by the "blue haired" generation. In any case the game lately had witnessed a recent comeback in acceptance with younger members of society opting to go to the bingo halls in place of the clubs on a Friday night. This is all about to change with the enforcement of the anti smoking law around England and Wales.
No more will players be allowed to puff on cigarettes at the same time marking numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 all public places will no longer be permitted to allow smoking in their venues and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most favorite areas where many people enjoy smoking.
The effects of the cigarette ban can already be observed in Scotland where smoking is already illegal in the bingo parlors. Profits have plunged and the business is literally struggling for its life. But where have the players gone? Obviously they haven’t abandoned this familiar game?
The answer is online. Players realize that they can enjoy bingo from their computer whilst enjoying a cocktail and cigarette and still enjoy monstrous cash rewards. This is a recent anomaly and has timed itself almost perfectly with the anti cigarette law.
Of course playing on the internet could never replace the collective portion of going down to the bingo hall, but for a group of people the rules have left a lot of bingo enthusiasts with little option.
