Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. This is because the American Indian bands of Oklahoma have run Bingo games for generations. Guests from many of the neighboring states load up in vans and visit Oklahoma to wager on Bingo over the weekends.
The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act followed a precedent setting ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year before. Since that time, 23 of the 39 Amerindian bands located in Oklahoma have established bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma Indian tribes to take advantage of the wagering restrictions, and today control 10 gambling dens of their own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned gambling halls were founded. computerized games such as one armed bandits weren’t authorized, since they are believed to contribute to gambling problems at a higher rate than bingo.
In the past few years, Oklahoma rules has altered to permit big Indian gaming gambling halls. You’ll now see American Indian casinos with slots, video poker and twenty-one tables. Craps and roulette are not allowed in the Native casinos yet, although that is just a waiting game. No one can authority whether having other gambling hall games in the bingo parlours will do for the draw of bingo.
