Oklahoma has for a long time been interrelated with Bingo. That is owing to the fact that the Indian tribes of Oklahoma have run Bingo sessions for generations. Patrons from many of the neighboring states load up in trucks and travel into Oklahoma to bet on Bingo over the weekends.
The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) followed a landmark decision by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. From that instance, 23 of the thirty nine Indian bands located in Oklahoma have introduced gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma Native band to take advantage of the gambling rules, and today run ten gambling dens of their own. Bingo is the game on which these casinos were built on. digital games such as one armed bandits were not authorized, since they are believed to lead to gambling problems more than bingo.
In recent years, Oklahoma law have altered to allow for massive Indian gambling gambling halls. You will now see Indian gambling dens with one armed bandits, video poker and 21 tables. Craps and roulette are still not authorized in the Indian gambling halls yet, although that is just a waiting game. No one can say with what having other casino games in the bingo houses will do for the popularity of bingo.
